As for your question on where it is located.. its located on the right hand side of the throttle body, has a vacumm pod attached to it and has a metal tube running to it that goes down and attaches to the drivers side exhaust manifold. Depending on the code you may have to also clean your EGR valve.
It is the EGR valve 100%! I had Identical symptoms with my 2011 Ford Kuga Diesel 2.0 litre 6-speed manual box 100,000 miles, making joining fast traffic very risky and overtaking a true nightmare. I've been rebuilding a 2l Kuga for a while. All bodywork now completed and I've started engine service etc. Tick over was a little rough and uneven before I started and I noticed a lot of tiny air bubbles in fuel line. Changed fuel, oil, air filters and oil. Tick over is far better, no air in fuel lines but if I blip the pedal, engine appears
